The song I had as "Haunt me now" (by Martin Phillips) is actually called "Small spark." Jason gave me a burned copy of the album, without a tracklisting, and I guess the tracklisting I found online didn't correspond correctly with the CD. Sorry!

"Hallogallo" - NEU!
Don turned me on to this band. I don't know what to say other than I think this song is just completely awesome. There's something very hip about it, even though it's from 1972.

"Have You Forgotten" - Red House Painters
A really pretty song by one of my favorite bands. The lyrics are very simple and straightforward but purposefully so, with a good message.

"He Was a Friend of Mine" - The Byrds
Another Bob Dylan song that I like The Byrds' version of better. This song is pretty and sad and reminds me of Brett.

"Heat Night" - The Waitresses
I love The Waitresses, love this song.

"Hounds of Love" - The Futureheads
I'm kind of embarrassed to say I like The Futureheads' version better than the original, but the energy is just so great. Of course, Kate Bush's version is really good too, so here's a link to it.

While Sufjan Steven's lush, intricately-orchestrated stuff is great, I have to say I prefer his sparser, softer stuff. He's got a good ear for simple yet effective arrangement. This song is really sweet.

We are having a movie screening on Sept
28th (this thursday! tomorrow!) on the abuses at kosher slaughterhouses and a shorter one on the general aspects of animal rights.

Following the movie their will be a discussion and FREE VEGAN DINNER! Free literature will also be provided. This event will go on within the hours of 6:30pm and 9pm!

Workmens Circle is located at 1525 Robertson Blvd off the 10
freeway in LA. We are asking only for donations and no

The other day, Brian and I went to The Getty. It was lovely--the weather was nice and cool, and it wasn't too crowded. We originally had gone to see the Rubens-and-Breughel exhibit, but we also wandered into the exhibit featuring Eliot Porter, a nature photographer. It was lovely, and, to my delight, there was an entire room dedicated to photographs of birds! If you (Los Angeleans) are into that kind of thing, you should check it out.
